DeepSeek is set to lead a seed round in Winverse AI, a Chinese startup building embodied AI models for robots. Bloomberg reported the deal on October 12, 2026, citing people familiar with the matter. It is not final yet.
The deal
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Round | Seed, led by DeepSeek |
| Size | "tens of millions of dollars" |
| Valuation after the round | about $400 million |
| Other backers | Long-Z Investments, Meituan's investment arm |
| Status | not final; valuation and investors could change |
Bloomberg calls it one of DeepSeek's largest startup investments since Liang Wenfeng founded the company in 2023.
Who is behind Winverse
Hu Han founded Winverse AI in 2026. Before that he was lead scientist and head of Tencent's vision-language and embodied foundation model teams.
DeepSeek and robots
This is not DeepSeek's first robotics bet. It took a 2% stake in Unitree Robotics in Unitree's Shanghai listing, to work together on embodied-intelligence models.
DeepSeek, Hu and Long-Z did not respond to requests for comment.
