Anthropic has opened an office in Singapore, its fifth in Asia-Pacific. On October 14, 2026, it also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information. The MOU covers AI safety, security and model evaluation.
Anthropic calls Singapore "one of our most active markets anywhere in the world." In its latest Economic Index, Singapore ranks second of 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to its population. That is nearly six times what its size alone would predict. The office is now open and hiring.
The MOU
- Signed by Kai Fong Chng, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and Anthropic co-founder Ben Mann.
- Signed on the sidelines of Singapore International Cyber Week. Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo witnessed the signing.
- Areas of cooperation: AI safety, security and model evaluation; research on AI adoption and its impact; and responsible adoption across the public and private sectors.
- Anthropic plans technical exchanges with Singapore's AI safety, security and assurance institutions on model evaluation, testing standards and incident response.
- Anthropic also plans to share research and data with the government, including from the Anthropic Economic Index.
The partnership builds on earlier work. In 2023 Anthropic joined the Generative AI Evaluation Sandbox run by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the AI Verify Foundation. It later worked with them on a red-teaming project in English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.

Anthropic in Asia-Pacific
- Singapore joins Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul and Sydney.
- Anthropic held Builder Summit Singapore with more than 300 developers. Earlier the same week, Claude community ambassadors held a meetup for more than 700 local builders.
