Anthropic updated its consumer subscription structure, renaming its high-tier Claude plans to Max and Ultra and removing the 5-hour rolling usage limit for verified Ultra accounts.

The changes streamline plan terminology following user confusion regarding multiple rolling and weekly multipliers, while allowing intensive developers to run uninterrupted extended coding sessions.
What it is
- Tier name changes. The $100 per month Max 5x subscription is now titled Max, while the $200 per month Max 20x plan is renamed Ultra. Pricing remains unchanged.
- 5-hour rolling limit removed for Ultra. Verified Ultra subscribers will no longer experience mid-session throttling from the historical 5-hour cap, leaving weekly allocations as the single governing boundary.
- Automated verification. Accounts qualify for unlimited rolling sessions through automated anti-abuse and payment history verification.
- Weekly quotas remain active. Ultra accounts retain a fixed weekly allowance set at 10x the Pro baseline, meaning rapid sustained usage will deplete weekly limits sooner.
- Bundled developer credits. Both tiers continue to include monthly Claude Platform API credits matching the subscription cost ($100 for Max, $200 for Ultra).
